Artist Network TV – great resource for artists

February 7th, 2011 No comments

The Artists TV Network site

If you’re like me, sometimes you just can’t wait to get your hands on the latest book, dvd or game. With this in mind, I wanted to highlight Artist Network TV, a great resource for the artist with demonstrations, tips and general know-how from some great artists.

ArtistsNetwork.tv was launched in 2008 to provide online instructional videos from leading contemporary artists. The videos are streamed to ArtistsNetwork.tv members so that they can be viewed 24/7 from any computer with a high-speed Internet connection without requiring software downloads.

The site allows you to preview a lot of demonstration clips before you buy and there are a lot of categories covering subjects from Dragons to landscapes. The previews make for some brief but great viewing and you can pick up some great inspiration from just watching the previews.

Jon Hodgson – Art Rage digital painting

October 29th, 2010 No comments

Interesting video clip here from artist Jon Hodgson showing his use of the software Art Rage while digital painting. There are a number of digital painting packages on the market and don’t be fooled into thinking your have to spend and are and leg. Art Rage is a great package and can achieve some very good results and look out for a future test I will be doing.

If you have used Art Rage, what do you think of it, I would be interested to know?

Painting in Acrylics with Terry Harrison – video clip

October 21st, 2010 2 comments

This week’s trawl of the net I came up with this little gem showing Terry Harrison painting with Acrylics. As a painter, I love the use of really old paint brushes that give you great textures and marks and no matter how old the brushes get I always keep them handy.

Terry Harrison uses an everyday sponge to great effect when painting the trees and bushing in his painting. The grass effect Terry gets when he lightly drags the sponge down has a lovely painterly feel and I will certainly give this technique a go in my traditional paintings in the future. Terry has produced a number of great books to help the budding artist, but enjoy this clip and watch out for other great clips to follow.

Charles Evans Oil Painting Video Clip

Here at the RUBooks Blog we are passionate about art and photography and as someone particularly interested in art, I often trawl the net looking for material, snippets of information, video clips, galleries, other artists, articles to help me improve my skills and the latest news, the list can be endless. It’s amazing what you can come up with and I have here a great little jem from the artist Charles Evans I wanted to share with you. A vidoe clip of Charles in action painting with oils.

I love these clips, as you see the artist in action, face to face, so enjoy…

We are also some great books at RUBooks and below is a small sample of the books we have available from Charles Evans at great prices.
